Summary:

St. Peter Julian Eymard, Priest, founder of the Society
of the Blessed Sacrament and The Servants of the
Blessed Sacrament. Fr. Eymard lived during the time
of Jansenism. A movement focused on the gravity
of human sinfulness and man’s unworthiness in the
presence of perfect Divinity. Fr. Eymard struggled
throughout his life seeking inner perfection and to
offer to God the gift of his entire self. He developed
a profound faith in the personal presence of Christ in
the Blessed Sacrament and proposed a community
dedicated to perpetual adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament. Both communities strongly encourage
frequent reception of Holy Communion as they
follow St Eymard’s words, “You take Communion
to become holy, not because you are already holy.”
